This course will examine the history, purposes, and principles of Local Government Accounting, budgeting, audits, assessments, and taxation, with emphasis on Urban and Rural Municipalities and School Division accounting.

The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in a relevant area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. They will be responsible for ensuring course material and curriculum meet current municipal sector and University academic requirements, and will be evaluated by students and the Division Head after each semester.

• LG instructors are asked to attend LG Advisory meetings (approximately two per year) as well as instructor team meetings as needed.
• Candidates should have good understanding of post-secondary academic standards and have strong communication and analytic skills to provide clear and effective written feedback for students on assignments and exams.

This course will be offered in an online delivery format, and candidates should be familiar with instruction in an online environment. Familiarity with UR Courses is an asset.
