Role: Operations & Maintenance Technician

Location Base: Lettermullen WTP, Kylemore Abbey WTP, Clonbur & Ballykill WTP

Suitable locations for commute are: West Galway, Connemara, Oughterard, Clifden, Clonbur, East Mayo Ballinrobe, Cong

The Role:

As an O&M Technician, you will be assigned ownership of certain water and wastewater treatment plants, responsible for ensuring the quality and quantity of treated water or final effluent meet specifications. You will operate and maintain the facilities, grounds, contents, and processes of your assigned sites. Technicians work collaboratively and may cover at various plants as needed.

You will have dedicated responsibility for your treatment plants, with coverage arranged during leave or days off. A rota system managed by O&M office staff will schedule your shifts, including out-of-hours and public holidays, with prior notice required for changes. Email and apps are essential tools for communication and operations. You will support daily operations and maintenance, contributing to your career development within a multidisciplinary engineering environment.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Take ownership of water and wastewater treatment plant facilities, ensuring standards are maintained.
• Perform operational checks regularly to ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Conduct grounds maintenance and facilities upkeep.
• Work independently, carrying lone working devices and following procedures.
• Visit sites regularly, complete reports via the Site Reporting App, and record visits and inductions.
• Respond to alarms and perform process adjustments to meet standards.
• Carry out weekly HSQE inspections and submit checklists.
• Assist with capital projects as needed.
• Show willingness to learn, progress, and mentor junior staff.
• Perform other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

• Experience in water/wastewater plant operations is desirable.
• Interest in career development within the industry.
• Teamwork and participation in project delivery.
• Engagement with suppliers and contractors.
• Problem-solving skills and initiative.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications.
• Strong communication skills and motivation.
• Full driving license.
