Live-In Maintenance Technician

Our client, an entrepreneurial and innovative developer and asset manager within multifamily properties across Eastern Canada, is seeking a Live-In Maintenance Technician to join their team. Reporting to the Property Manager, you will manage on-site maintenance activities and drive operational excellence for a multifamily property in Montreal (200 units), while building strong relationships with tenants and delivering exceptional customer service.

To be successful in this role, you must be fully bilingual (French & English), dedicated to resident safety and satisfaction, and experienced in vendor/contractor management. You should enjoy hands-on work and wearing multiple hats. This role offers the opportunity to develop your skills in a fast-paced environment, collaborate with a high-performing team, and have fun! Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Respond promptly, professionally, and courteously to resident requests.
  • Prepare apartments for rental, including painting, carpet cleaning/repair, general repairs, and housekeeping, to ensure quality living spaces.
  • Possess knowledge of maintenance functions such as plumbing, pool maintenance, HVAC, carpentry, appliances, electrical work, painting, caulking, snow removal, and safety procedures.
  • Maintain grounds, pools, common areas, and dog parks to ensure cleanliness and safety.
  • Perform emergency procedures as scheduled or on call, under the guidance of the Maintenance Supervisor and Property Manager.
  • Report all safety-related and property damage issues affecting budgets and operations.
  • Be familiar with relevant laws, codes, policies, and systems related to housing maintenance.
  • Attend required training programs.
  • Provide excellent customer service and represent the company professionally at all times.
  • Complete tasks efficiently and professionally.
  • Maintain all tools and equipment properly.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Fluency in French and English.
  • Experience in construction, building mechanics, or plumbing is preferred.
  • Ability to perform basic maintenance tasks.
  • Knowledge of safe tool and equipment use.
  • Ability to read and understand procedures, safety rules, and maintenance instructions.
  • Ability to write routine reports.

Compensation:

The successful candidate will receive fully provided rental accommodation and parking (choice of 1 or 2 bedroom unit), $20/hr pay, benefits from day one, 3 weeks vacation, expense-paid training trips, and various employee events throughout the year.
