Position Summary
Commissionaires BC is seeking dedicated and reliable individuals to join our teamas a Casual DetentionGuard at the Fort St James RCMP detachment. Under the guidance of the RCMP Members responsible for Cell Block Operations, you will be entrusted with the safety and well-being of persons in custody, along with other key duties.
Important:Applicants must reside within a 60-minute drive of the detachment.
- Surveillance:Regularly observe and check prisoners, including monitoring via CCTV.
- Assistance:Aid RCMP members as requiredand manage meal organization.
- Record Keeping:Maintain a detailed prisoner activity logbook.
- Cell Maintenance:Ensure cleanliness of cells and conduct searches before and after occupation, reporting any damage.
- Security:Maintain cellblock security, ensuring cell doors are always locked and personal effects are secured.
- Fire Safety:Monitor and adhere to fire safety protocols.
- Medical and Laundry:Handle and dispense approved medications and laundry itemsunder direction of RCMP members.
- Miscellaneous:Perform additional duties as required by the detachment.
- Age Requirement:Must be 19 years or older.
- Certification:Valid Basic First Aid certificate or willingness to complete prior to hiring.
- Clearance:Ability to obtain RCMP Reliability Clearance (4-6+ months process).
- Language:Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
- Vision:Meet RCMP-V4 visual standards (eyeglasses permitted).
- Physical Requirements:Ability to lift up to 20 kg, bend, and climb stairs.
- Skills:Ability to remain calm under stress, work independently, and be discreet.
