About the Role

The National Director of Production Operations (GM of GM’s) is a senior operational leader responsible for the strategic execution, performance optimization, and end-to-end consistency of Clutch’s national vehicle production infrastructure. This includes full accountability for all operational outcomes across the company's Inspection and Reconditioning Centers (IRCs).

This person will lead a high-discipline, performance-driven function that ensures rigorous adherence to standardized processes, drives throughput efficiency, maintains quality assurance at scale, and manages production inventory flow—including Work-in-Progress (WIP) visibility and movement. The role also encompasses ownership of a national Blitz Team—a specialized deployment group dedicated to IRC launches and tactical interventions.

This position requires an accomplished operations leader with demonstrated expertise in multi-site management, lean principles, production control systems, and cross-functional coordination at an enterprise level.

Key Responsibilities
  • National IRC Operations Oversight: Assume end-to-end responsibility for the performance and integrity of all IRC facilities across Canada. Develop and enforce site-level execution plans that align with national production strategy and organizational priorities. Maintain full visibility into site health metrics through formalized reporting structures and escalation protocols. Ensure each site operates within a standardized, scalable framework that eliminates performance drift and unnecessary process reinvention.
  • Production Network Execution & Inventory Control: Direct ownership of national vehicle throughput, including production funnel optimization and inventory staging across all WIP categories. Ensure vehicles are prioritized appropriately and processed in accordance with established readiness timelines and business-level SLAs. Design and implement systems for real-time inventory balance monitoring, constraint identification, and corrective action.
  • KPI Ownership and Operational Performance Management: Define, track, and enforce critical performance indicators, including CPU, vehicle readiness timelines, cycle time, WIP, and takt times. Establish and drive a culture of continuous improvement with strict accountability to performance benchmarks and fiscal discipline.
  • Leadership of Regional and Site-Level Management: Lead a distributed team of Regional Production Managers (RPMs) and Site Production Managers (SPMs), ensuring clarity of roles, expectations, and leadership discipline. Facilitate talent development, succession planning, and leadership training to build and sustain long-term bench strength. Conduct regular performance reviews and corrective action plans where needed, upholding a high-performance team culture.
  • Operational Standardization and Process Integrity: Champion SOPs and production quality controls across all IRC locations. Monitor for deviations, implement control mechanisms, and conduct root cause analyses to mitigate process erosion. Drive adoption of lean, Six Sigma, and 5S principles where applicable to promote operational excellence.
  • Blitz Team Leadership and Strategic Deployment: Oversee a highly skilled Blitz Team deployed to support Launch of new IRC sites, production accelerations during peak periods, and rapid-response interventions for underperforming sites. Define activation criteria, staffing models, and intervention frameworks for Blitz Team engagements.
  • Daily and Weekly Operational Cadence: Own and govern the national rhythm of business through structured, recurring forums such as Morning production standups, daily throughput reviews, weekly KPI alignment calls, and escalation management and root-cause resolution reviews. Ensure production reporting is timely, standardized, and actionable across all levels of the organization.
  • Cross-Functional Interface and Strategic Alignment: Act as a primary interface between production operations and core business units including Logistics and Transport, Central Inventory Management, Customer Experience (CX), Product, Engineering, and Analytics teams. Facilitate system integration, SLA alignment, and resolution of interdepartmental dependencies impacting production efficiency.
  • Workforce Stability, Safety, and Compliance: Collaborate closely with Human Resources and Site Leadership to maintain optimal staffing levels, shift coverage, and role alignment. Enforce compliance with all applicable health, safety, and labor regulations. Champion a culture of safety, inclusion, and operational discipline within every IRC.
What We're Looking for
  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively senior leadership in production, logistics, or operations, with a significant portion overseeing multi-site facilities.
  • Relentless attention to operational detail and standard work adherence.
  • Exceptional analytical and decision-making skills under pressure.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive structured execution in dynamic environments.
  • Strong interpersonal influence, capable of aligning cross-functional stakeholders and frontline staff alike.
  • Proven success managing complex, high-throughput production or reconditioning environments.
  • Deep fluency in process standardization, quality systems, and KPI management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead distributed teams and drive cultural alignment across geographically dispersed sites.
  • Track record of deploying operational improvements with measurable outcomes in efficiency, cost, and customer satisfaction.
Why You\'ll Love it at Clutch
  • Make an Impact: Help shape the future of car buying and selling in Canada by leading a critical part of our customer experience.
  • Career Growth: Join a rapidly growing company with opportunities for leadership and professional development.
  • Great Team: Work alongside talented, driven, and collaborative colleagues who are passionate about what they do.
  • Competitive Compensation: Enjoy a strong compensation package, including salary, equity, and benefits.

Clutch is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where all individuals have an opportunity to succeed. If you require accommodation at any stage of the interview process, please email talent@clutch.ca.
