Overview

Attention Architect: You’ve been shaping stories frame-by-frame for 3+ years, and you know how to combine footage, motion graphics, sound, and pacing to keep viewers glued to the screen. You don’t just cut clips—you engineer retention. AlgaeCal is searching for a Video Editor who knows how to craft high-retention content for YouTube, using motion graphics, mixed media, sound design, and world-class pacing to make every second count.

Responsibilities

• Craft high-retention content for YouTube using DaVinci Resolve, motion graphics, mixed media, sound design, and pacing that supports storytelling and audience engagement.
• Develop visuals that support key talking points with deliberate visual assets—animation, stock footage, or AI-generated footage as needed.
• Design visual cold opens and end screens, structure arcs around curiosity, and edit with the algorithm in mind.
• Collaborate with the team to build reusable assets (lower thirds, transitions, animated elements) to improve efficiency.
• Deliver 4–6 polished, narrative-driven videos per month with attention to quality and consistency.

Requirements / Qualifications

• An impressive portfolio demonstrating ability to turn concepts into clear sequences (b-roll, motion text, transitions, visual metaphors, sound cues).
• Experience creating long-form videos with supportive visual assets for major talking points.
• Strong focus on retention metrics (AVD, 50%+ APV typical) and ability to deploy pattern interrupts to maintain viewer engagement.
• Ability to design compelling openings (first 30 seconds) that drive CTR and watch time.
• Proficiency with DaVinci Resolve (Edit, Color, Fairlight) and creation of reusable Fusion assets.
• Capability to use 2D animation, compositing, or motion text to reinforce the script without distraction.
• Ability to source or create visuals that reinforce narrative and use AI tools like Midjourney or Runway when appropriate while keeping brand quality.
• Understanding of YouTube optimization and ability to edit with both algorithm and human viewer in mind.
