Job description

Niisaachewan Anishinaabe Nation is seeking a dedicated Youth Wellness Worker to support and empower youth between the ages of 8 and 29. This role involves coordinating and facilitating programs, workshops, and activities that promote mental health, personal growth, and community engagement. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about youth development and creating safe, supportive spaces for young people to thrive.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate youth programs, activities, and workshops.
  • Maintain and update a monthly calendar of programs on the NAN Prevention page.
  • Provide online support for youth seeking guidance on personal challenges and coordinate referrals to appropriate counseling and healing programs.
  • Track participation and prepare case notes, reports, and statistical information within required timelines.
  • Ensure confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with youth and families.
Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of family dynamics, child development, mental health, addictions, crisis intervention, life skills, budgeting strategies, and family support systems.
  • Ability to prepare detailed case notes, reports, and statistical information in a timely manner.
  • Excellent communication, time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Positive role model with strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to youth empowerment.
  • Proficiency in computer programs and social media platforms to support online engagement.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and occasional weekends as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to transportation.
  • Ability to provide a Vulnerable Sector Check.
