Job description

Tetra Tech’s Water Group is seeking a motivated student to support a variety of water infrastructure projects across Manitoba. Working alongside engineers, technologists, and field staff, you will gain hands ‑ on experience with projects involving water distribution systems, sewer collection systems, pump stations, site development water and wastewater treatment facilities, and lagoons. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a university or college student to contribute to meaningful municipal infrastructure work while developing practical technical skills.

In this role, you will assist with both office and field tasks, including construction observation, surveying, data collection, and technical analysis. You will be part of a collaborative team environment where you can learn from experienced professionals and support a wide range of local projects.

Your Role:
  • Support technical staff by researching, compiling, and evaluating project data
  • Assist with calculations, report preparation, and design tasks for water and wastewater treatment, watermain, and sewer projects
  • Perform data entry and gain exposure to CAD and design tools
  • Assist with onsite construction inspection, including construction observation and documentation
  • Support survey crews with level work, staking, roding, and field measurements
  • Complete general engineering and administrative duties as required
Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree or Diploma program in Civil Engineering, Water Resources, Construction Management, or a related field
  • Successful completion of at least one year of Civil Engineering or Civil Technology coursework
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and follow direction in a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and take initiative
  • Physically able to work on construction sites in varying weather conditions
  • Knowledge of municipal, provincial, or federal regulations is considered an asset
