Job description

Our client is seeking a forward-thinking Vice President, LTL & Courier Operations to lead terminal operations, drive key strategic initiatives, and champion large-scale transformation across their freight and logistics systems, including the modernization of core operating platforms. This role offers an accomplished operations executive the chance to step into a high-impact mandate—one with the authority, visibility, and organizational support to elevate performance across an expanding network.

Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President, Operations, the Vice President will oversee the performance and development of terminal managers across all regions, ensuring alignment between day-to-day operations and the organization’s broader business objectives. This role will be critical to strengthening service excellence, optimizing fleet and terminal capacity, and driving sustainable, profitable growth.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional leaders to drive strategic initiatives that support customer onboarding, retention, and evolving service requirements. You will oversee LTL and courier operations across all regions, ensuring the organization consistently meets targets for safety, service quality, on-time performance, cost efficiency, and equipment utilization. A key focus will be the development of high-performing teams, fostering strong leadership capability through coaching, engagement, and effective succession planning. The Vice President will also champion operational excellence by implementing enterprise initiatives and continuous improvement programs, ensuring the consistent rollout of strategic projects and process enhancements across the organization.

Qualifications

As the ideal candidate, you hold a bachelor’s degree in business, operations management, logistics, or a related field, an MBA or advanced degree would be considered an asset. You bring a minimum of 12 years of progressive leadership experience, including at least five years in an executive role, and possess deep knowledge of transportation operations within LTL and Courier environments. Success in managing large-scale, high-volume terminal operations is essential, along with strong strategic thinking and business acumen to align operational initiatives with organizational goals. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record in operational excellence, process improvement, and cost optimization, and must be willing to travel across the terminal network annually, with additional visits to major sites as required.
