Job summary

A community service organization in Powell River is seeking a Transition House Support Worker to provide vital support to women in crisis. Qualifications

• Two years recent related experience supporting women and children, preferably in a transition house.
• Valid First Aid certificate and Food Safe certificate.
• Satisfactory criminal record check.

Responsibilities

• Provides information, support, advocacy, and referrals to women in residence.
• Assesses eligibility of women requesting service.
• Completes intake process and helps residents settle in.
• Communicates with other service providers.
• Ensures house is safe and clean.

Hours Per Week: up to 36 hours

Schedule: Monday - Sunday, day and night shifts

Salary Or Wage: $31.56 to $34.56 per hour

List of Duties

• The Transition House Support Worker provides information, support, advocacy, and
  referrals to women in residence, and through the 24/7 help line, who are fleeing a violent relationship
• Provides support and referrals to all callers on the help line
• Assesses eligibility of women requesting service
• Completes intake process and helps residents settle in once admitted to the house
• Assesses residents’ needs and assists them in defining and implementing an action plan
• Helps problem solve issues in the house
• Communicates with other service providers
• Maintains accurate records and files
• Ensures house is safe and clean
• This is a casual position for both day and night (awake) shifts.
• The wage range includes the differential for night and weekend shifts.
• Shifts are 12 hours, either 6 am to 6 pm or 6 pm to 6 am.
