Requirements
  • Graduation from University or post-secondary institution in marketing, business administration, arts or tourism and five years\' experience in the tourism industry. An equivalent combination of relevant experience and academic training will also be considered;
  • Experience in tourism-based sales and promotions and / or tourism-based customer service;
  • Will possess extensive knowledge of the tourism industry, marketing, development, research, sales, public relations, literature production, and other principles involved in attracting visitors and groups to Fredericton.
  • Experience in event planning and execution an asset; Supervisory experience.

Are you a results-driven sales professional with a passion for promoting destinations? We're seeking a strategic, detail-oriented individual to help position Fredericton as a top choice for meetings and conventions.

Reporting to the Manager of the Tourism Division, the successful applicant will play a pivotal role in positioning Fredericton as a premier tourism destination. They will use vibrant marketing strategies to promote, sell and develop the City of Fredericton\'s unique offerings and will work as part of a team of coordinators. This position will have a special focus on sales & marketing, meetings & conventions, literature development and production, seasonal promotions, attendance at sales shows and the development of partnerships. The successful applicant will work collaboratively with tourism industry stakeholders to encourage meetings & conferences for Fredericton. The ability to multi-task effectively and maintain keen attention to detail will be essential for success in this position.

What You\'ll Do
  • Destination marketing of Fredericton.
  • Develop relationships with current clients and secure new accounts.
  • Lead, plan and execute in-market initiatives including sales missions, client events and industry tradeshows.
  • Plan and execute digital marketing activities.
  • Respond, in a timely manner, to all Requests for Proposals.
  • Develop annual business plan including strategies and action plan for RVF.
  • Lead and collaborate with Rendez-Vous Fredericton (RVF) stakeholders to ensure effective communication.
  • Other duties and roles, managing various programs or services of the department, may also be required. Work also involves identifying, coordinating and assisting with tourism initiatives. Maintain new and existing client / account information in CRM (IDSS) weekly.
  • Manage assigned budget.
  • The successful applicant will be required to exercise considerable independent judgment, initiative and creativity, and be able to deal effectively with the public and the tourism industry in a professional, courteous and tactful manner.
  • Irregular hours, travel and overtime are required on occasion.
  • Over time, the tasks and duties of tourism coordinators in the team may change within the destination marketing and product development mandate of the Tourism Division.
  • Performing related duties as assigned.
