Overview

Stone Mad 4 Stone Ltd is a tile and masonry company serving the Vancouver Island area. Quality of work is a top priority for us, and we take pride in all aspects of our work. We install tile from ceramic to porcelain to glass, and we also install manufactured and natural stone products. The business is in need of a tilesetter to accommodate expanding needs of the business.

Job Location: 3600 Trevor Avenue Port Alberni BC V9Y 8T4
Work location: On the road
Salary: 30.00 hourly / 40 hours per week
Job Type: Permanent employment, Full time
Start Date: Starts as soon as possible

Responsibilities

• Prepare, measure and mark surfaces to be covered
• Mix, apply and spread mortar, cement, mastic, glue or other adhesives using hand trowel
• Prepare rough plans and sketches
• Set tiles in place and apply pressure to affix them to base
• Align and straighten tiles
• Cut and fit tiles around obstacles and openings using hand and power cutting tools
• Pack grout into joints between tiles and remove excess grout
• Remove and replace cracked or damaged tiles
• Lay and set mosaic tiles to create decorative wall, mural and floor designs
• Cut, surface, polish and install marble and granite
• Estimate costs and materials
• Mix, lay and polish terra surfaces
• Install tile strips

Qualifications

• Languages: English
• Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
• Experience: 7 months to less than 1 year
• On the road job: Work locations may vary. Frequent or constant travel is required from the employee
• Work site environment: Dusty
