Summary

The Territory Manager role is accountable for consistent and sustainable sales growth; engaging SKF Authorized Distributors, Channel Partners and End Users with a focus of deepening and expanding the customer relationship.

Reporting to the National Sales Director, this highly technical role is responsible for securing SKF’s position with customers on new products and applications, ensuring the right customer experience and will function as the primary technical resource for distributors and end-users in the defined sales area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver consistent sustainable sales & profit growth within the assigned portfolio of business, including a primary focus on heavy industry in the territory
  • Troubleshoot applications and articulate advanced problems to Application Engineers as needed, including inspection of bearings and other SKF products.

Short And Long-term Strategic Goals Are Met Through Actively Managing Daily Engagement Of SKF Authorized Distributors, Channel Partners, And End Users

  • Enhance, broaden, and deepen key customer relationships.
  • Become recognized by all our customers as trusted advisors.
  • Consultative and collaborative approach with customers, their sales teams, and engineers to provide technical and solution-based support.
  • Recognized as the preferred technical partner for distributors and end-user customers in the defined sales area.
  • Proficient in providing technical basic/intermediate level support, working closely with Application Engineers for higher-level, Subject Matter Expert (SME) support.
  • Proactively troubleshoot end user problem applications for new opportunities to recommend the optimum SKF solution.
  • Recommend improved materials or value solutions emphasizing the benefits of lower cost or increased production.
  • Present or host either virtually or in person basic training, hands-on demonstrations of bearings, seals, and maintenance products.

Effective And Strong Customer Business Management Practices

  • Proactively manage new and existing customer accounts while documenting sales opportunities in our customer relationship management tool, C4C.
  • Develop and demonstrate end user value through documented cost savings.
  • Assess competitive share-shift opportunities and define/promote an SKF alternative.
  • Employ our SKF Sales Excellence process in offer development and insight presentations to move opportunities through the sales funnel.
  • Plan and adapt products to meet customer needs.
  • Secure growth and retention orders; ensure timely delivery.

Answer technical questions utilizing published information catalogs for bearings, seals, and maintenance products related, but not limited to:

  • Nomenclature and design features
  • Shaft and Housing Fits
  • Basic maintenance recommendations

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B. Eng preferred) or 5-10 years of equivalent industry experience.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 40-50% of the time domestically.
  • A valid and clear Driver&aposs License may be required for travel purposes.
  • Comprehensive communication skills in the English language both verbal and written.
  • Strong industry knowledge for the assigned area.
  • Proficient with Microsoft tools: Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams are essential.
  • Experience in sales planning/development/execution, funnel management, external/internal customer follow up.
  • Experience with distribution sales and operations would be a definite asset.
  • Communication skills in the English language via email, phone, virtual meetings, in-person meetings, and demonstrations to communicate at a commercial and technical level.
