The Upper Canada Leger Centre for Education & Training is seeking a qualified and engaging Temporary ESL Teacher to deliver a short-term English language program to a small group of international students aged 11–14.

This position will run January 6 – February 28, 2026, four days per week, for 1.5 hours of instruction per day.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver daily ESL lessons suited to students’ ages and English proficiency levels.
  • Create an inclusive, supportive, and culturally responsive classroom environment.
  • Engage students in interactive learning activities that strengthen listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
  • Differentiate instruction to support varying levels of English language development.
  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and organized learning environment.
  • Communicate effectively with UCLCET staff regarding attendance, student needs, and emerging concerns.
Qualifications
  • TESL/TEFL certification or Bachelor of Education with ESL/ELD qualifications.
  • Experience teaching ESL to children or youth (ages 10–14 preferred).
  • Experience working with international students or newcomers is an asset.
  • Strong organizational, instructional, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and provide consistent, high-quality instruction.
Additional Requirements
  • Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (required prior to start).
  • Availability for the full contract period.
