Several positions and a pool of candidates

The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) is seeking to technical expertsto conduct validation and verification accreditation program (VVBAP) assessments, including greenhouse gas (GHG), on a contractual basis.

VVBAP technical experts play a key role in the assessment of VVBs by applying their extensive technical expertise to evaluate the competence of personnel, and the conformity of processes.They apply their technicalexpertise by conducting file reviews, interviews with VVB personnel and witness audits to support accreditation assessments.

Key Activities

  • Work closely with the SCC Lead Assessor to determine the scope and criteria to be assessed.
  • Review customers’ quality management system, standard operation procedures (SOPs), procedures, forms, work instructions and job aids to assess evidence of conformity with relevant criteria.
  • Review customers’ personnel competency management system, personnel human resources records, VVBs file records to assess evidence of conformity with relevant criteria.
  • Observe the work of VVB personnel to assess the conformity to procedures and application of relevant criteria via a witness audit.
  • Gather objective evidence of conformances and non-conformances during the assessment.
  • Report to the Lead Assessor on findings and provide recommendations based on evidence.

4)ICAO Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA)

  • Advanced understanding of:
  • International Civil Aviation Organization, Standards and Recommended Practices – Annex 16 Volume IV
  • International Civil Aviation Organization, Environmental Technical Manual – Volume IV
  • Sector 1: Fossil Fuels
  • Sector 2: Renewable/Bio/Low-carbon-intensity Fuels
  • Sector 4: Green Hydrogen (from non-fossil fuel)

Advanced understanding of the three main categories of credit-creating actions:

  • Compliance Category 1 – CO2e-Emission-Reduction Projects
  • Compliance Category 2 – Low CI Fuel
  • Compliance Category 3 – Advanced Fuel Technologies

Basic knowledge of Clean Fuel Regulations and familiarity with the following concepts:

  • Regulations and supporting documents
  • Regulatory Impact Analysis Statement
  • Verification and Certification
  • Fuel Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Model
  • Quantification Methods
  • Technical presentations
  • Credit and Tracking System
