About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Technical Consultant with expertise in IBM i (AS / 400, iSeries) systems. In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, helping them optimize the health, performance, and security of their critical business systems. You will provide both proactive consulting and hands-on technical support, ensuring stability, scalability, and compliance within client environments. Your work will span system assessments, modernization initiatives, virtualization, and IT security advisory.

Responsibilities

• Act as a subject matter expert for IBM AS / 400, iSeries, and IBM i environments.
• Conduct system health checks, performance reviews, and security assessments.
• Provide guidance and implement best practices for IT security, including access management, patching, and compliance.
• Consult on virtualization strategies and assist with deployments (VMware, PowerVM, etc.).
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across hardware, OS, and applications.
• Advise clients on disaster recovery planning, backup strategies, and system resiliency.
• Prepare and deliver technical documentation, client reports, and recommendations.
• Partner with client teams to align technology strategies with business objectives.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with IBM AS / 400, iSeries, or IBM i on Power Systems.
• Strong knowledge of system operations, job scheduling, and DB2 / 400 database administration.
• Familiarity with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, PowerVM) and IT security frameworks.
• Strong consulting and communication skills with ability to advise non-technical stakeholders.
• Analytical mindset and problem-solving ability in mission-critical environments.

Preferred Skills

• Exposure to RPGLE, CL, and SQL for troubleshooting / debugging.
• Knowledge of ITIL or similar service management frameworks.
• Experience consulting in healthcare or other regulated industries where compliance is critical.

• Pay: $50.00-$52.00 per hour
