The Opportunity

RVS invites applications for the on‑call, casual position of Support Substitute (Learning Assistant) for the 2025‑2026 school year. Support substitutes are called to work on an as needed basis, at any of our schools.

You must be available to work throughout the 2025‑2026 school year, be accessible by telephone and internet, and provide your own transportation. Interviews will be held in person or via Zoom on an as needed basis.

• Ability to provide assistance to students as identified in their individualized programming plans (IPP) including those that require additional supports (i.e. personal care, toileting and feeding) as a Learning Assistant

Education/Experience

• Education Assistant Certificate or enrolled/willing to enroll in an education assistant program
• Training in preventative/de‑escalating behaviour course or willingness to become certified
• Training or experience working with students with extreme and complex behavioural and emotional needs in an educational setting

Support Substitute Expectations

• There is no minimum day availability required to be a support substitute (Learning Assistant) with Rocky View Schools
• There is no minimum geographical area selection required

Pre‑employment Requirements

• The successful candidate must submit a current Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check within 30 days of the start of your employment.
• Applicants must provide a professional letter of reference, attached to the job application, from their most recent supervisor, relevant to the job opportunity, written on company letterhead, signed and dated within the past 18 months.

Support substitutes are now eligible to access the supplemental benefits package at their own cost.
