The Opportunity: We are currently seeking a Supervisor, Projects & Shutdowns Management to join our Contract Management team supporting Surface Plants in Sudbury, Ontario. This is a permanent position, working Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM.

As a Supervisor of Projects & Shutdowns Management, your responsibility will be to oversee project and shutdown activities within your designated area of accountability. The project portfolio will encompass managing initiatives from FEL 1 studies through to execution and project closure. Additionally, you will oversee and lead Planned Maintenance Period work and projects, collaborating closely with Operating and Maintenance Teams as well as External Service Providers.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a portfolio of Capital, Operating, and PMP projects, including commissioning, operational readiness, scope development, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Collaborate with project teams, external service providers, and unions to ensure safe, cost-effective, and timely project execution while supervising external providers when necessary.
  • Oversee safety protocols by participating in safety planning, auditing external provider safety plans, managing incident reports, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Develop, review, and approve scopes of work, coordinate external provider mobilization/demobilization, and monitor their performance for safety, quality, schedule, and cost adherence.
  • Integrate project schedules into site-wide planning, track progress, conduct regular stakeholder meetings, and develop recovery plans as needed.
  • Establish and audit performance metrics (safety, cost, schedule), facilitate progress meetings, prepare reports, and ensure completion of action items before project closeout.
  • Assist in budget development, manage project budgets, validate contractor timesheets, evaluate contracts, and support contract scope development and asset capitalization processes.
  • Coordinate operational readiness activities, including documentation, procedures, and handover to operations, ensuring all project documentation and closeout requirements are met.
Education
  • College diploma or Undergraduate degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) or a related field is preferred.
  • Relevant certifications or training in project management, shutdown planning, or maintenance management may be preferred.
  • Generic Supervisor Common Core (770141) is an asset.
Experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of related experience is required.
  • Previous experience in project management, shutdowns, or maintenance within the relevant industry is considered an asset.
  • Proven track record of managing complex projects from planning through execution and closeout.
  • Proficient in SAP and Microsoft Office Products

  • Must be obsessed with safety and risk.
  • Demonstrate open and transparent dialogue in all aspects of work.
  • Strong leadership, coordination, excellent communication skills (both written and oral) and demonstrated skills in time management.
  • Ability to work in a high-paced environment with competing demands and priorities.
