SUMMARY: Under the supervision of a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA), the Supervised Instructor Therapist will perform the tasks and implement the goals and objectives as indicated by each behavior program by providing behavior intervention in-centre or in the community with clients diagnosed with autism or other developmental disabilities.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Valid driver’s license and must have reliable transportation to travel to client homes (required)
  • Previous experience working with the special needs’ population
  • Bachelor’s Degree or currently enrolled in a University program related to Behavioural Science, Behaviour Analysis, Psychology, or Early Childhood Development (preferred).
  • BACB Registered Behavior Technician Certificate (preferred)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management and interpersonal skills
  • Fluently bilingual in English and French (highly preferred)
  • Valid First Aid/CPR Level C (required)
  • Clean Vulnerable Sector Police Check (required) Responsibilities and Duties
  • Provide one-to-one intervention, utilizing the Principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) in the home, school or community.
  • Collaborate once a week to discuss clients with other team members.
  • Implement individualized behaviour treatment plans developed by the BCBA and work in collaboration with other team members.
  • Willingness to travel to multiple locations throughout a work day as needed.
  • Provide feedback to the clinical supervisor regarding the client’s progress, goal development, the need for new programming.
  • Ability to conduct variety of different assessments (VB-MAPP, PCA, ABLLS-R, etc.) under the direction of a Senior Therapist.
  • Willingness to work primarily during the day as well as some evening hours (Not past 7:30pm).
  • Utilize appropriate chaining and shaping techniques.
  • Consistently take accurate and legible data in a timely manner.
  • Understand how to implement and utilize a task analysis.
  • Complete any additional duties as assigned by the Clinical Director.
  • Communicate parental concerns immediately to the supervisor.
  • Ability to sit, stand, kneel, bend over, crouch down, and sit/play on the floor for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to be able to lift, push, and pull up to 40 lbs without assistance from another person.
  • Ability to respond to behaviors in an appropriate manner.
  • Ability to utilize CPI and under no circumstance restrain, hold, pinch, push, hit or provide any physical or mental discomfort to the child or adult.
