The Role

What is a summer without outdoor sports! The City of Sarnia is looking for students to help prepare and maintain our Sports Fields for community use.

You will be responsible for a variety of tasks in the summer elements, including:

  • Lining, grooming, floating, base and pitching mound set up, net adjustments, edging and weeding our baseball diamonds
  • Artificial turf maintenance, including sweeping and brushing
  • Grass cutting/trimming of sports fields and parks across the City of Sarnia
  • Maintain and clean outdoor sports facilities including benches, backstops, bleachers, emptying garbage cans, and litter/debris pick up
  • Engagement with user groups of Sports Fields with general inquiries, playability, and set‑up requirements

Vacancies: Up to 6

Term

Please note that the anticipated term of employment will be:

  • May 4, 2026 – August 14, 2026

Successful candidates will be expected to be available for the full duration of the employment term.

Mandatory Training

Additionally, all student employees must be available to attend mandatory training, which will be scheduled as follows:

  • Monday, May 4, 2026 & Tuesday, May 5, 2026
Requirements
  • Current student, returning to full-time studies in September, 2026
  • Valid G2 drivers licence with an abstract acceptable to City guidelines
  • Safety conscious and always demonstrate safe work practices
  • Follow instructions well
  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a professional manner
