Job summary

This role requires expertise in CAD modelling and collaboration with engineers to create functional and visually appealing aquatic structures. Ideal candidates should have a diploma in Civil/Structural Engineering and at least 2 years of relevant experience. This is a full-time position with a focus on creativity, problem-solving, and effective teamwork.

Position: Structural Designer

Status: Regular Full Time, 40 hours a week

Department: Slide Path

Location: Richmond, BC, Canada

Reports to: Director, Slide Path

Purpose:

The Slide Path team is looking for a creative and detail-oriented Structural Designer to join our dynamic team focused on designing world-class waterslide complexes. This role blends engineering principles with architectural flair, contributing to the development of safe, functional, and visually stunning aquatic attractions.

The primary responsibility will be to work alongside Slide Path Designers and Structural Engineers to develop stair towers and waterslide support structures. In addition, the Structural designer will draft the final, coloured drawings and renderings using AutoCAD. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Prepare CAD models for waterslide supports, towers, and various elements
  • Use Whitewater customized software to design waterslide support structures
  • Develop layouts for waterslide towers, stair configurations and access routes.
  • Draft proposal drawings including pools, general notes, presentation layouts, and waterslide colouring.
  • Interface with the project structural engineering team to ensure alignment of proposed structural solutions with engineering requirements.
  • Contribute to the creation of architecturally pleasing slide support and tower structures that enhance both aesthetics and functionality.
  • Participate in initiatives that improve department performance and collaboration with other departments.
  • Respect people through positive communication, consideration, and cooperation.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Diploma in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years technical experience in a similar role
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and topography
  • Experience using 3D modelling software, preferably AutoCAD and SolidWorks
