About the Role

In the role of Structural CAD Technician, we’ll count on you to:

  • Demonstrate the ability to understand and maintain CAD/MicroStation standards based on client and project requirements.
  • Take initiative on tasks.
  • Work with engineers and other CAD staff in collaboration for successful project development and deliverables.
  • Use strong organizational skills, prioritize multiple tasks, and manage time effectively.
  • Apply practical knowledge of CADD/MicroStation software and design standards toward the preparation of civil and structural engineering drawings.
  • Coordinate and communicate with engineers and other designers to understand objectives and preferred methods.
  • Recognize discrepancies with strong attention to detail.
Specific Duties
  • Prepare engineering drawings of plans, elevations, cross sections and details of bridge structures from rough sketches and/or general engineering design information according to established standards and procedures.
  • Work under minimal supervision and organize and perform tasks necessary to complete assigned projects successfully.
  • Use MicroStation and ProjectWise following internal or client‑driven CAD standards.
  • Verify current client standard drawings are being used and current detailing and plan preparation manuals are utilized.
  • Prepare bridge layout and bridge details with minimal supervision or as directed by the project engineers and designers.
  • Detail plan sheets for retaining walls, sound walls, culverts, bridges, and other facilities for highway transportation projects.
  • Set up project border files, reference (base) files, etc.
  • Adhere to client‑specific quality control process (CAD Standards).
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment with other CAD Technicians and Engineers.
  • Actively promote and contribute to the successful completion of projects from initial concept through the planning process to implementation.
  • Compile data and perform dimensional and routine calculations required for the preparation of drawings.
  • Complete redlines for modification of existing plans and notes or preparation of new details or design elements with minimal direction from engineers, designers, senior CAD technicians, or CAD Manager.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Practical knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation design software.
  • Civil drafting background with underground utility experience, or structural detailing experience.
  • 1–5 years of prior structural/civil engineering projects CAD‑related experience.
  • Experience working with ProjectWise platform.
  • Local candidates are preferred.
Required Qualifications
  • Technically qualified with 3D design software and document management infrastructure.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office products and communication tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational traits are essential.
  • Basic understanding of engineering or architectural concepts.
