About the Opportunity

Welch LLP is currently looking for a Staff Accountant, starting to specialize in Tax Compliance and Advisory, to join our Ottawa team.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare complex and specialized partnerships, corporate income, and personal tax returns
  • Establish and maintain effective client relationships
  • Assist in updating/developing internal corporate & personal tax compliance procedures and policies
  • Preparation of various tax elections
  • Assist in responding to CRA pre- and post-assessment requests
  • Provide assistance with CRA audits of personal tax clients
  • Preparation of voluntary disclosures for corporate & personal tax related issues
  • Conduct tax research
  • Attend relevant workshops and conferences to remain up-to-date on corporate tax issues
Qualifications
  • Minimum completion of a University degree or College diploma with a specialization in Accounting
  • 1-3 years’ experience in accounting
  • Experience using TaxPrep is considered a strong asset
  • Working towards fulfilling the experience requirements required for the CPA designation
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Canadian tax knowledge would be an asset
  • Excellent communication skills in English; bilingualism (English and French) is a strong asset
