The Sr Analyst LS Analytics & Sys Ops role is focused on driving effective decision-making and optimization in both the financial and performance space, through a broad understanding of Legal Services matter management and billing processes. This role requires technical expertise in data analytics and enables the consumption of data and reporting by Legal Services teams, at all levels.

This position maintains relationships and provides guidance and prioritization of work to interdepartmental groups (TIS) and external partners/vendors, ensuring data and systems reliability and integrity. The role oversees the full systems lifecycle, collaborating with technical and business experts for reliable technology operations and is accountable for customer service and systems administration support. This role ensures the department has the critical tools and accurate data to continue providing professional services to the company.

What You Will Do:
  • Provide customer service and systems administration support for Legal Services eBilling and Matter Management application (TeamConnect, LegalConnect+), ensuring smooth operations and resolving system-related issues.
  • Enable the department to leverage the full value of data analytics, through establishment of key performance indicators and metrics in areas such as external counsel selection and spend, panel use, matter budgeting and allocation, resourcing and, identification and flagging of billing concerns.
  • Manage the background systems (data warehouses, data flows/models, queries, etc.) which enable dashboards to translate data into graphs, charts, tables, scorecards, narratives, etc. for effective department operations and on-brand presentation.
  • Amalgamate cross-departmental data sources and leverage future technologies and connections, such as Azure or Hyperion, to reduce manual effort and improve efficiency/accuracy.
  • Strengthen the area of process and governance through maintenance and development of use and adoption metrics.
  • Ensure optimization of current technologies through collaboration with the performance team and key and gap analysis.
  • Development and contribution to process, governance and reference guides for systems and reporting tools.
  • Support technology implementation, configurations and investments through understanding of current and future state Legal Services systems.
  • Monitoring of system permissions for non-compliance and use. Ensure data availability through monitoring tools and collaboration with TIS/vendor.
Who You Are:

Required:

  • University degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Business, Engineering, Information Technology, Data Science), or demonstrated equivalent experience.
  • 2+ yrs of related broad business experience; involvement on large and/or transformational process change, and management is particularly desirable.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Power BI for data analysis and visualization.
  • Strong experience in SQL query development, including in SQL Server and Oracle/Azure environments. Knowledge of Azure Databricks is an asset.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for data manipulation and presentation.
  • A well-developed strategic perspective, including demonstrated abilities to anticipate, think critically, interpret ambiguity and make decisions that balance speed, rigour, quality and agility.
  • Experience working effectively at all levels in an organization and ability to develop collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of Legal matter management (TeamConnect), an asset
