About this role

Reporting to the Senior Store Manager, the Supervisor assists in the management of a major retail operation with sales in excess of $8 million. Responsibilities include ensuring good customer service, supervision of staff, developing teamwork and maintaining good staff morale. The position may also assist in controlling stock levels and stock variances and ensuring acceptable levels of security in the store for both staff and physical assets. The Supervisor is expected to contribute to improve the Branch image by providing support of all Branch policies. The Supervisor is also involved in training staff, scheduling assignments, participating in all store duties, and may be involved in labour relations matters.

A criminal record check is required.

May be required to lift liquor cases up to 50 lbs. to varying heights, stand at a cash register for extended periods of time and perform warehouse duties including frequent bending and standing. Successful completion of Serving It Right™ certification will be required prior to confirmation of any appointments of this position. Work is performed in a multi-shift retail operation.

Position requirements
Education and Experience
  • Secondary (high) school diploma or equivalent certificate.
  • A minimum six (6) months of recent experience* in a supervisory role in a retail environment.
  • Experience with fostering a customer centric selling culture and driving sales.
  • Experience with store visual presentation.
Preference may be given to those candidates with any of the following
  • Experience managing an environment with an annual sales volume of over $1 million.
  • Experience with hiring, training and coaching employees.
  • Experience with managing a team of multiple employees per shift.

*Recent experience is defined as occurring within the past five (5) years.

Relief time will be verified at the past work performance stage of the competition and must meet the minimum experience requirement as stated above for the candidate to be successful in the competition.
