About the role

Join the Business Solutions Engineering Team, where we are developing the next generation of software applications to enable CMHC to achieve its strategy. Your skills and passion for application development, programming, user‑centric design and software reliability will support the development and maintenance of CMHC’s business platforms and other applications to propel CMHC forward efficiently and securely.

What you’ll do:
  • Actively participate in the elaboration of various types of manual and automated tests (functional, end to end, performance, regression, UI components, API testing, etc.).
  • Help define and implement quality standards, guidelines, tooling strategies and test automation processes.
  • Design, configure and manage testing environments and test data.
  • Design, implement and maintain scripts and automated testing solution for applications and services.
  • Collaborate with developers to promote testing best practices and drive test automation adoption by promoting a shift‑left testing culture.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to understand project requirements, refine acceptance criteria and ensure test coverage.
  • Complete application development projects of higher complexity, including the programs to be coded, for implementation into production.
What you should have:
  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in software quality engineering, test automation, or SDET roles.
  • Strong hands‑on coding experience with UI, API, and integration test automation frameworks.
  • Experience with accessibility testing techniques and standards (WCAG 2.1 AA, axe‑core, screen readers).
  • Experience building testing frameworks and libraries and test strategy.
  • Strong understanding of the test pyramid and shift‑left testing principles.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, information management practices, system development life cycle management, IT services management, agile and lean methodologies, infrastructure and operations.
  • Strong interpersonal and business competencies, including teamwork, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Technologies:
  • Hands‑on experience with API Testing tools such as Postman, REST Assured, and Pact for contract and integration testing.
  • Hands‑on experience using K6 or JMeter to evaluate system performance and load behavior.
  • Hands‑on experience in identifying accessibility defects with manual and automated tools and provide corrective measures.
  • Proficient in integrating tests into pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
  • Working knowledge of tools like SonarQube, Accessibility testing, and SAST/DAST tools for security and quality analysis.
It would be great if you also had:
  • A graduate degree or certificate in Computer Science, Information Management, or a related field.
  • Exposure to test data management and mocking tools.
  • Experience with Tricentris Tosca testing automation tool is an asset.
  • Experience implementing test observability or flakiness tracking.
  • Experience in the insurance or finance sectors.
