Job description

Reporting to the Engineering Coordinator, you will be part of the Engineering Department. You will be responsible for backfilling coordination, planning activities and optimization. You will act as the liaison between the Engineering, Mine Operations & the Process Plant departments regarding all backfilling related activities. You will ensure that the goals, and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Underground planners to plan all backfilling activities;
• Compile and verify production data in Centric. Consolidate data and produce the various KPI reports;
• Prepare all plans and notes prior to paste pouring and analyze the data once pouring is completed;
• Coordinate backfilling operations among all the several stakeholders;
• Collaborate with all the departments involved to ensure safe and efficient operations;
• Ensure quality acceptance and quality control of the backfill during and after the deposition;
• Promote innovation and continuous improvement in safety and productivity;
• Perform backfill studies and analysis with suppliers and consultants to optimize the process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining, Geological, Civil or Mechanical Engineering or Mine Technician degree;
• 4+ years of experience in underground hard rock mining;
• 1+ years of experience with mine backfill (experience with Cemented Paste Backfill and Cemented Rock Fill an asset);
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and mine design/planning software (Deswik an asset);
• Member of a Canadian Engineering society and eligible to NAPEG membership (for Engineers).

Work Schedule

• Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;
• Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
