The Role

We are looking for a highly organized and detail‑oriented Site Scheduler to lead the planning and scheduling efforts for a major construction project. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be the pulse of the project, responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing critical path schedules using Primavera P6.

This is a field‑based role. You will work closely with superintendents, field coordinators, and project management to ensure accurate progress tracking and forecasting. This is 14/14 rotation, working 12 hours/day. Charter flights are provided from either Edmonton or Calgary with flight allowances based on the province located.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Schedule Management: Develop, monitor, and update Level 3 and Level 4 construction schedules using Primavera P6
  • Progress Tracking: Collaborate with field supervision to verify daily progress, installed quantities, and labor hours against the baseline
  • Reporting: Generate daily, weekly, and monthly schedule reports, including S‑curves, manpower histograms, and critical path analysis
  • Forecasting: Identify potential schedule variances or delays early; propose corrective actions and recovery plans to the Project Management team
  • Resource Loading: Ensure schedules are resource‑loaded to accurately reflect manpower and equipment requirements
  • Change Management: Incorporate change orders and scope changes into the master schedule to analyze impact on completion dates
  • Coordination: Facilitate weekly scheduling meetings with the construction team to align on upcoming work packages and constraints
Education/Skills/Qualifications
  • Software Expertise: Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 (Professional) is mandatory. Experience with Microsoft Project and Excel is considered an asset
  • Experience: Minimum 5+ years of scheduling experience in industrial construction, oil & gas, or piping/mechanical projects
  • Education: Engineering Degree, Technical Diploma (CET), or relevant Trade Ticket preferred. PMI‑SP or PSP certification is a plus
  • Field Experience: Previous experience working on‑site at major oil sands facilities (Kearl, CNRL, Suncor, etc.) is highly preferred
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of constructability, WBS structures, and Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Safety: Commitment to OCL’s safety culture
  • CSTS 2020 (Construction Safety Training System)
  • CSO (Common Safety Orientation) or BSO
  • Driver’s License with a clean abstract
  • Ability to pass pre‑employment drug and alcohol screening
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Must be willing to complete a criminal background check
