First Student is now hiring a Shop Foreman / Lead Diesel Mechanic for our maintenance facility serving Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.

Major Responsibilities

As a Lead Fleet Technician / Shop Foreman, you will lead the maintenance and repair of our school bus fleet while supporting efficient shop operations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervise and support technicians in daily shop activities
  • Schedule maintenance and repairs to ensure fleet reliability
  • Generate work orders and track progress through completion
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues
  • Maintain advanced knowledge of all vehicle systems and components
  • Ensure accurate service records and compliance with safety standards
  • Monitor shop performance and efficiency, implementing improvements as needed
Qualifications
  • Journeyperson Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (Red Seal) or equivalent experience
  • Strong experience with diesel engines, commercial transport vehicles, or transit buses
  • Ownership of a basic mechanic's tool set
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality work, and teamwork
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience considered an asset
