Overview

Senior Backend Developer to join our Montreal office. You will help drive the growth and development of our Hospitality product group, aiding our goal to expand into new markets and strengthen our comprehensive commerce platform. You will join a team focused on building an advanced, modular users and permissions framework to empower multi-location merchants by making it easy to configure and manage their business setup.

You will be part of a collaborative team dedicated to enhancing our engineering practices, implementing advanced technology, and maintaining an engaging work environment. Your work will play a pivotal role in redefining hospitality experiences worldwide.

What you’ll be responsible for

• Collaborate with industry experts to enhance our omnichannel product through development of innovative features and workflows.
• Enrich and extend our AWS-hosted, microservice-based platform.
• Balance new feature development with maintaining existing integrations with partners as we expand into new markets.
• Report to the Development Team Lead with regular interaction with Product Managers, Product Designers, and Platform Teams.
• Participate in daily agile ceremonies and contribute solution-oriented ideas that improve the status quo.
• Advocate for high-quality code and maintain infrastructure health.
• Foster growth within the team by sharing knowledge and best practices while seeking continuous improvement.

What you’ll bring to the team

• Outstanding Java knowledge with 5+ years of production experience
• Expert knowledge of the Spring framework
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns
• Experience with RESTful APIs and microservices architecture
• Strong emphasis on testing with experience in automated testing frameworks
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines
• Fluency in English as a working language for this position

What will increase your chances

• Experience with an additional backend language (Python or Go)
• Experience in an Agile development environment
• Experience with cloud environments (GCP, AWS) and container technologies (Kubernetes, Docker)
• Experience with real-time messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ)
