Job summary

A progressive natural gas utility in Canada is seeking a Senior Regulatory Specialist to join their Regulatory Affairs team. This role involves interpreting and analyzing regulatory policies, modifying and maintaining financial models, and preparing regulatory filings. The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor's degree in commerce or business administration, have a professional accounting designation, and possess over five years of experience in a regulatory environment. Proficiency in MS Office Suite and familiarity with Power BI are also required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a regulatory environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of SharePoint and data analytical software systems.

About the Role

As a Senior Regulatory Specialist, you will play an essential role within our Regulatory Affairs team, reporting to Manager, Regulatory.

Responsibilities
  • Interpreting and analyzing regulatory policies, and rate structures;
  • Modifying and maintaining regulatory and financial models;
  • Preparing and developing new financial models;
  • Reviewing and supporting regulatory filings;
  • Preparing scenarios and sensitivity analysis incorporating macro and microeconomic factors;
  • Leading regulatory submissions; and
  • Preparing workplans and leading project teams for regulatory application process.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in commerce or business administration or equivalent post-secondary education;
  • Professional Accounting Designation;
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a regulatory environment;
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Intermediate knowledge of SharePoint; and
  • Intermediate knowledge of data analytic software system (i.e., Power BI).
