We put people above all else, strive to be our best and welcome new ideas to deliver positive outcomes.

Reporting to the Portfolio Director, the Senior Project Manager will lead the end-to-end delivery of a multi-phase digital transformation initiative: the implementation of a next-generation client portal. This strategic program aims to redefine how clients engage with their investments and insurance by delivering a unified, intuitive, and personalized digital experience. The platform will leverage modern technologies, scalable architecture, and integrated data capabilities to enable seamless access to financial products across devices.

This role demands a seasoned leader with a strong blend of technical fluency, strategic foresight, and business acumen. The Senior Project Manager will oversee a complex program structure comprising multiple interdependent workstreams across diverse business lines. Responsibilities include orchestrating cross-functional collaboration, managing competing priorities, and ensuring alignment with enterprise goals.

As a cornerstone of Equitable’s long-term growth strategy, this initiative will modernize client interactions, enhance operational efficiency, and elevate digital engagement. The Senior Project Manager will be instrumental in driving technology enablement, business process integration, and organizational change—ensuring that delivery milestones are met with precision, agility, and impact.

Join one of the region’s top employers and be part of something that truly makes a difference.

Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement, and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

What you’ll do:
  • Spearhead the planning, estimation, execution, and delivery of a multi-stream digital transformation initiative—centered on a next-generation client portal—spanning multiple lines of business and technology domains.
  • Govern program and project execution with precision, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy, adherence to budget and timelines, and delivery of measurable business outcomes.
  • Navigate and manage intricate interdependencies across agile squads, technical platforms, and business functions, while continuously reprioritizing features based on evolving strategic drivers.
  • Provide overarching leadership for a high-impact, multi-phase initiative involving complex stakeholder landscapes, regulatory considerations, and enterprise-wide integration.
  • Partner with IT architecture, data, and business teams to orchestrate seamless integration of modern technologies, scalable infrastructure, and reengineered business processes.
  • Drive enterprise enablement through system modernization, platform interoperability, and process transformation, ensuring readiness for future scalability and innovation.
  • Architect and execute change management strategies that foster adoption, mitigate resistance, and embed new capabilities into business-as-usual operations.
  • Cultivate strong stakeholder alignment through continuous engagement, transparent communication, and collaborative planning across executive, operational, and delivery teams.
  • Lead the development of portfolio intake artifacts and iterative business cases that reflect evolving scope, value realization, and strategic fit.
  • Advise senior leadership on initiative proposals, investment prioritization, and cost-benefit analysis to support informed decision-making.
  • Proactively identify and assess risks across program and stream levels, developing mitigation strategies that preserve delivery integrity and stakeholder confidence.
  • Lead structured resolution of escalated issues, ensuring timely intervention and alignment with governance protocols.
  • Facilitate cross-functional forums to resolve delivery blockers, harmonize competing priorities, and maintain momentum across workstreams.
  • Champion continuous improvement by refining delivery frameworks, operational workflows, and governance models.
  • Oversee structured knowledge transfer from delivery to support teams, ensuring operational readiness and long-term sustainability of deployed solutions.
  • Build and sustain high-trust relationships with decision-makers, delivery leads, and cross-functional contributors.
  • Monitor and report on program health, milestone achievement, and delivery velocity using executive dashboards and performance metrics.
  • Track strategic business outcomes in partnership with sponsors and business owners, ensuring alignment with enterprise KPIs.
  • Provide regular updates to divisional leaders on initiative progress, risks, and value realization.
What you’ll bring:
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in program and project management, with demonstrated success leading enterprise-scale digital initiatives.
  • Post-secondary education in Technology, Business, Commerce, or a related discipline.
  • Certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile Project Manager are considered assets.
  • Deep expertise in delivery methodologies including Agile, Lean, Waterfall, DevOps, and hybrid approaches.
  • Proven ability to lead complex programs with multiple stakeholders, competing priorities, and high visibility.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills, with a track record of building consensus, negotiating outcomes, and driving change.
  • Advanced communication, facilitation, prioritization, and organizational capabilities.
  • Experience in conflict resolution, process reengineering, and enterprise transformation.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results independently or collaboratively in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
What’s in it for you:
  • Career Growth: Regular learning sessions and development opportunities
  • Total Rewards: Incentive pay, annual salary reviews, employer-paid benefits and pension matching
  • Time Away: Competitive vacation plus one paid volunteer day each year
  • Flexibility: Healthy work-life balance with employee wellness always top of mind, complemented by a “dress for your day” approach
