Our Vancouver, BC based client is urgently seeking a Senior Network Administrator to join their team in a permanent full‑time position. This role will administer, oversee, maintain, and optimize their telecommunications network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in networking, telecommunications systems, and advanced troubleshooting techniques. This role involves managing network operations, ensuring high availability, and implementing improvements to enhance performance and security.

Key Responsibilities
  • Network Infrastructure Management: Deploy and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and telecom equipment.
  • Monitor network performance, identify issues, and implement solutions for optimal uptime.
  • Manage core, access, and distribution layers of the telecom network.
  • Ensure redundancy, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
  • System Administration & Maintenance: Manage IP addressing, VLANs, and QoS policies.
  • Conduct regular firmware and software updates for network devices.
  • Implement and maintain security policies, including firewall configurations and VPNs.
  • Automate network tasks and streamline operations using scripting (e.g., Python, Bash).
  • Troubleshooting & Support: Act as an escalation point for complex network issues.
  • Perform root cause analysis for outages and service interruptions. Collaborate with NOC, field technicians, and vendors to resolve incidents efficiently.
  • Project Management & Documentation: Lead network upgrade and expansion projects, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
  • Create and maintain detailed network diagrams, documentation, and SOPs.
  • Conduct capacity planning and recommend upgrades as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in network administration, preferably within the telecom or ISP industry.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, Multicast, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, IS‑IS and other routing protocols.
  • Experience with Layer 2 tunneling and service technologies such as VPWS (Virtual Private Wire Service), VPLS (Virtual Private LAN Service), EVPN (Ethernet VPN), and ELAN/EMLAN for delivering secure, scalable multi‑site connectivity and network segmentation.
  • Hands‑on experience with Cisco, Juniper, Nokia, or similar platforms.
  • Proficiency with network monitoring tools (e.g., PRTG, SolarWinds, Zabbix).
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent documentation and project management abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certifications such as CCNP, JNCIP, or equivalent.
  • Experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Python scripting).
  • Knowledge of cloud networking (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Experience with telecom OSS/BSS systems.
  • Experience with Linux Operating System and Services.
