LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services is seeking a Senior Medical Lab Technologist to join our team in Toronto, ON (100 Intl Blvd).

Our Senior Medical Lab Technologists provide accurate and timely interpretive and diagnostic specimen testing and reporting. Through accuracy, quality, efficiency, and expediting test results, you will contribute to patient well-being and better health outcomes. This role is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our Microbiology Department. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in microbiology techniques and a proven track record in leadership within a microbiology laboratory setting.

This is a full-time role with afternoon shifts, suitable for maintaining a healthy work/life balance. LifeLabs’ facilities are known as “teaching laboratories,” offering opportunities to share knowledge, access 24-hour medical support through our Medical Science team and Medical library, and teach college and university student placements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and conduct complex microbiological tests and analyses, ensuring accuracy and adherence to standard operating procedures.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Develop, implement, and refine laboratory procedures, quality control measures, and safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to interpret test results and provide expert recommendations.
  • Execute verification and validation processes, including evaluation of new testing methods, equipment, and systems.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
  • Manage inventory and order supplies.
  • Stay current with microbiology advancements and incorporate new techniques into laboratory practices.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing a wide range of diagnostic and interpretive specimen testing.
  • Interpreting and releasing results while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Collaborating with the Lab Manager and Medical Scientific Team to set and meet goals.
  • Participating in reviews of key indicators, incidents, audits, and inspections, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Assisting with evaluation and implementation of new technology.
  • Problem-solving workflow issues.

Qualifications:

  • College diploma or University degree in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent.
  • CMLTO registered.
  • At least 5 years of MLT experience or equivalent.

  • Good computer skills.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to uphold safety, privacy, and confidentiality standards.

Hiring Range: $35.20 - $47.68

The final salary will depend on experience, education, market conditions, and internal equity.
