Overview

Position Summary : Reporting to the Director, Operations, the Senior Manager, Human Resources is responsible for providing strategic leadership in developing employee and labour relations solutions to contribute to plant success.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the strategic execution of labour relations, including grievance resolution, union engagement, and bargaining.
  • Proactively identifies opportunities, risks and trends to provide strategic recommendation of people initiatives aligned to business plans
  • Collaborate with the Operations team to ensure effective strategies are applied towards recruitment needs and labour utilization.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in organizational capabilities; create and facilitate programs to improve gaps.
  • Develop and lead programs to enhance employee morale, satisfaction & retention.
  • Drive talent and leadership development strategies that build facility bench strength and future workforce capacity
  • Ensures best practices in human resource management are implemented by collaborating with peers and colleagues.
  • Act as cultural ambassador for Sofina company culture, Blueprint and Guiding Principles
  • Provide leadership to the HR Team with a clear focus on the career development of team members;
  • Act as a change agent within the facility, focused on continuous improvement of the People and Culture within the facility
  • Lead the collection of key data linked to critical areas of the business; analyze and communicate the data and make appropriate recommendations to address gaps
Requirements
  • A degree in Labour Relations or Human Resources Management; CHRL designation is highly preferred;
  • 10-15 years of experience in Labour Relations at a managerial level, leading a team of HR professionals
  • Proven work experience in a unionized manufacturing / processing environment;
  • Strong understanding of employee and labour relations practices and the collective bargaining process;
  • Strong influencing, negotiation and conciliation skills in addition to well-developed partnership and communication skills
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office applications
