Are you passionate about delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced, dynamic environment? The City of Medicine Hat is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Senior Hospitality Lead to assist and manage our back of house kitchen operations. In this key role, you\'ll oversee staff, ensure seamless food and beverage services, build strong relationships, and maintain high operational standards, all while contributing to our vibrant community.

Your key responsibilities
  • Supervise and assist back of house kitchen staff, providing guidance and leadership to ensure operational efficiency and positive customer experiences.
  • Maintain and nurture relationships with Premium Seating Clients, ensuring high-quality service and satisfaction.
  • Assist menu planning, inventory control and ordering supplies, ensuring all procedures align with City of Medicine Hat policies.
  • Ensure food service equipment is maintained, and environmental, health, and safety standards are upheld, including FOODSAFE and Pro Serve compliance.
  • Collaborate with the Food & Beverage Supervisor on staff recruitment, performance management, and training.
  • Coordinate catering and set-up requirements for special events, ensuring high-quality food services.
  • Support communication between Food & Beverage staff, particularly during high-capacity events, to promote problem solving and operational efficiency.
What you bring
  • Extensive knowledge of buffet preparation, short order cooking and inventory management.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally, manage multiple responsibilities, and prioritize effectively.
  • Proven ability to create a positive and constructive work environment that fosters trust and employee engagement.
  • Strong understanding of FOODSAFE and Pro Serve guidelines, with the ability to ensure full compliance.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office and other office software in a networked environment.
  • Flexibility and adaptability are required, as we cannot provide a set schedule or guarantee a fixed number of hours. This role averages 25+ hours per week, with actual hours varying based on operational needs. Shifts may include rotating days, evenings, weekends, and occasional short-notice or call-in shifts.
Qualifications
  • Completion of Grade 12 or High School Equivalency diploma.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in food services, including supervisory experience.
  • Successful completion or ability to obtain Alberta ProServe certification.
  • Successful completion or ability to obtain Food Safe certification.
  • Certification as a Certified Concession Manager (CCM) is considered an asset.
