Job summary

A leading health and well-being provider in Ontario is seeking a Financial Reporting Specialist. This individual will be responsible for preparing statutory financial statements and ensuring compliance across jurisdictions. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA certification, and at least 4 years of relevant experience. This is a 12-month contract position with the potential for a full-time role afterwards.

What you’ll do

Statutory Reporting and compliance:

  • Prepare, review, and submit statutory financial statements in compliance with local GAAP/IFRS for domestic and foreign entities

  • Ensure timely filing of statutory reports, financial statements, tax returns, and other regulatory filings across all relevant jurisdictions

  • Support tax filings, transfer pricing documentation, and other compliance-related tasks.

  • Coordinate and manage statutory audits for both domestic and foreign entities, ensuring all required documentation is available.

  • Address auditor queries, reconcile differences, and implement audit recommendations.

  • Ensure that audit timelines are met, and that all statutory audit requirements are satisfied across multiple jurisdictions.

Journal Entries & Month-End Close:

  • Prepare and post journal entries for all required adjustments including intercompany transactions, management fees, etc.

  • Perform reconciliations of key accounts, including intercompany, foreign exchange, and accounts.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline and enhance statutory reporting processes

  • Collaborate with the broader finance team to improve the quality and reliability of financial data.

What you bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

  • CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional certification

  • At least 4 years’ experience with preparation of financial statements

  • Working knowledge of developments in accounting standards, ie IFRS

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel

  • Experience in technical accounting research and documentation of company’s position on complex accounting matters

  • Experience with complex global consolidations, including foreign exchange translations and intercompany transaction eliminations

  • Strong knowledge of ERP systems preferably WorkDay and SAP

Great-to-haves
  • Experience in supervising team workflows, task delegation and review of financial deliverables
