Qualifications

  • 4+ years’ experience in similar role, preferably in business partnering or retail industry.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, banking and funding requirements in a franchise.
  • CA or CPA accreditation is an asset.

Senior Financial Analyst

Reports to: Senior Manager, FP&A

Location: Vancouver, BC

A fantastic opportunity exists for a full time Senior Financial Analyst to join the COBS Bread Finance Team and bake a difference in the world by providing sound financial and commercial advice, as we look to double our business within the next five years.

The successful candidate will play a key role in providing financial and commercial advice and will be responsible for assessing the financial health, risk and security of franchise bakeries, making recommendations and partnering with stakeholders to implement suitable commercial and financial solutions.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with various stakeholders (including Franchisees, COBS Bread Support Team, financial institutions, and lawyers) to drive financial performance improvements in the franchise network.
  • Regularly analysing, assessing and reporting on franchisee financial information including, monthly financial statements, budgets, financial health questionnaires and accountant prepared financials for franchisees, identifying ways to reduce costs, increase margins and improve ROI.
  • Lead the franchisee network growth process by working with franchisees on their financial plans and business objectives for growing their portfolio (e.g. from single site to multi-site operator)
  • Maintain and grow relationships with existing and new financial institutions that have partnered with COBS Bread and working with the Operations team to assess and support the management of franchisee debt, working with financial intuitions and franchisees on loan financing
  • Coaching and guiding stakeholders on financial management and improving the operational processes that have been established
  • Identify and assess the financial risks and improvement opportunities across the franchise network and working to achieve sound financial and commercial outcomes for both COBS Bread and its Franchisees.
  • Support the Senior Manager, FP&A with reporting, budgeting, forecasting and ad-hoc financial analysis
  • Other duties as assigned

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Adept in financial and business acumen, and ability to influence sound commercial outcomes
  • 4+ years’ experience in similar role, preferably in business partnering or retail industry
  • Strong desire to work with people and enjoy building relationships and partnering with others for successful outcomes
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, banking and funding requirements in a franchise, retail or multi-site environment
  • A post-secondary degree in Business, Finance or Accounting
  • Ability to problem solve, identify and manage risks, and a desire to enhance efficiencies
  • High attention to detail and outstanding organizational skills
  • Strong skills in MS Office including Excel
  • CA or CPA accreditation is an asset
