JOB DESCRIPTION

The Senior Financial Analyst plays a pivotal role in shaping data‑driven decisions across the organization. In this role, you’ll tackle complex financial modeling, uncover performance insights, and champion process improvements that elevate operational excellence. As a trusted advisor to senior leadership, you’ll translate financial intelligence into clear, strategic recommendations that drive the business forward.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain financial models to support long‑term planning and strategic decision‑making.
  • Perform period‑end reporting, reconciliation activities, and analysis to support timely and accurate financial close.
  • Prepare and coordinate documentation for government audit requirements.
  • Present complex financial information clearly and effectively to senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • Drive improvements to financial processes, reporting tools, and data quality standards.
  • Prepare ad‑hoc financial analysis and support strategic initiatives and special projects.
  • Draft, update, and formalize financial policies, procedures, and supporting documentation.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to more junior analysts, as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Post‑secondary degree in Accounting or Finance with a CPA, CFA, MBA, or 8‑10+ years of equivalent experience.
  • 5‑8+ years of experience in accounting or financial analysis.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
  • Experience with financial audits, Cognos TM1, government contracts, or payroll considered assets.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and cross‑team collaboration skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with strong attention to detail and data interpretation skills.

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Please note this position requires a full‑time, in‑office presence.
