Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for a Senior Environmental Technician to join our Fredericton or Bedford team in Atlantic Canada. Your role will be to assist engineers in designing, planning, and performing engineering duties related to the prevention, control, and remediation of environmental hazards, utilizing various engineering disciplines.

This position offers a variety of work and will involve:

  1. Fieldwork: Perform field work to supervise site interventions related to environmental characterizations of soil and groundwater and land rehabilitation (by excavation, in situ treatment, and biopile); complete topographic surveying and survey layouts;
  2. Environmental Assessments: Perform Phase I to III Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs);
  3. Health, Safety, and Environment: Implement and enforce health and safety plans on project sites; perform Emergency Response (ER) services for environmental spills/releases;
  4. Data Collection, Analysis, and Technical Writing: Provide accurate field notes; write site reports and other technical documents;
  5. Engineering Solutions Design: Implement feasibility testing of proposed engineering solutions, under supervision, to provide feedback and contribute to validation of the design;
  6. Sampling and Testing: Conduct field activities including sampling of groundwater, soil, soil vapour, sediment, and surface water; perform exploration trenching, drilling, in situ geotechnical testing, installation of observation wells, and sampling;
  7. Project Coordination: Oversee excavation and drilling activities; supervise subcontractors; coordinate project tasks, oversee field work, and report to the Project Team;
  8. Technical Troubleshooting: Perform basic diagnostic tasks, such as identifying evident technical issues with equipment and experiments, and assist in troubleshooting.

Training and skills

  • Post-secondary or college diploma in environment, geology, or civil engineering;
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in environmental site characterization and rehabilitation;
  • Bilingual capabilities considered an asset;
  • Possess a valid driver's license and have access to a vehicle;
  • Autonomous, methodical, responsible, resourceful, and punctual;
  • Available for a variable schedule;
  • Willing to work on sites outside the region on occasion.
