Role Description

As part of a moderate growth strategy, Tectonica is inviting a Senior Construction Manager to our team to play a leadership role in the construction delivery of our clients’ projects. We work almost exclusively as a Construction Manager as Agent and as such the diligence and transparency of our construction delivery is a key part of the value add for our clients. The successful candidate will have a passion for detail, a deep understanding of commercial building construction, tendering, contract administration, budgeting and scheduling. The position will involve active management of larger construction projects while providing the opportunity to mentor site staff/junior construction managers. As a medium size company with many team members participating as shareholders, we are looking for someone to play a long‑term role as we grow to meet the needs of our returning and new clients.

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is an asset.
  • Experience: At least 10 years of experience in construction project management, with a proven track record in managing commercial, municipal, and multi‑residential projects. Experience on Vancouver Island is preferred.
  • Contract Administration: Extensive experience in negotiating, administering, and managing contracts. Proficiency in reviewing and analyzing contract documents, tenders, drawings, and specifications.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to effectively lead project teams, build trust, and resolve conflicts. Experience in mentoring and supporting team development.
  • Local Knowledge: Understanding of the construction landscape on Vancouver Island, including local regulations and practices is preferred.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Challenge‑Resolution: Strong analytical skills with a proactive/collaborative approach to identifying and resolving challenges that arise during the project lifecycle.
  • Safety and Compliance: Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in construction. Ability to work with site superintendents to implement and enforce safety protocols on‑site.
