The Audit, Compliance & Controls (ACC) team is seeking a Senior Compliance Analyst with a strong foundation in IT governance, risk, and controls. Reporting to the Manager, Audit, Compliance & Controls, this role partners closely with IT, internal audit, and operational teams to support regulatory compliance, manage key IT risks, and maintain effective control frameworks, including Alberta Reliability Standards. As a senior analyst, you will lead and manage complex, cross‑functional initiatives, provide guidance to team members, and act as a liaison during audits by representing the organization, supporting evidence walkthroughs, and facilitating a positive audit experience. The successful candidate brings strong critical thinking, technical expertise, and clear written and verbal communication skills to translate complex concepts for a wide range of stakeholders, functional initiatives, provide guidance.

Key Aspects
  • Lead the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of IT governance and compliance documentation, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to team members on the design, documentation, and effectiveness of IT controls and governance processes.
  • Partner with operational teams to ensure governance requirements and controls are well understood, embedded in day‑to‑day activities, and effectively mitigate risks of contraventions or process deviations.
  • Monitor, interpret, and assess control evidence to evaluate operating effectiveness, analyze incidents and potential contraventions, identify root causes, and recommend corrective and risk mitigation actions.
  • Prepare and maintain compliance documentation for regulatory submissions and internal governance processes.
  • Act as liaison for IT audits, coordinating with auditors and IT subject matter experts, collecting and presenting evidence, and representing control owners during audit discussions.
  • Contribute to the development of Alberta Reliability Standards (ARS) and support AESO’s oversight of market participant compliance with ARS.
Qualifications and Desired Skills
  • Diploma or degree in an Information Technology–related field, with 10+ years of experience in IT operations, project delivery, or related roles.
  • Familiarity with industry frameworks and standards such as NIST CSF, ISO 270x, COBIT, and ITIL.
  • Strong data analysis skills with the ability to interpret and assess evidence and control effectiveness.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage both business stakeholders and technical specialists.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting IT internal and external audits, including CIP and CSOX, with additional experience in SOC compliance strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of governance, risk, and compliance practices, with a relevant certification (e.g., CRISC) considered an asset.
  • Experience using the ServiceNow platform, including IT Service Management and GRC modules, beneficial.
