Job description
Overview

Vice President, Client Experience, Marketing and Communications – Pro-Demnity Insurance Company. We are a multidisciplinary team of architects, lawyers, insurance professionals, and risk advisors serving Ontario’s architectural community. This role offers a unique opportunity for a mid- to late-career architect to leverage expertise outside traditional practice while making a tangible impact on the profession.

Join Pro-Demnity as an architectural expert & advisor. We enable architects to take risks safely and confidently to design a better world. This role sits in the Centre of Architectural Expertise and works cross-functionally with Claims, Legal, Risk Services, Risk Education, Underwriting, and Marketing & Communications. You’ll bridge architectural practice and professional liability, advising firms, helping manage claims and risk, and contributing content to our podcast, blog, and website.

This role is ideal for an architect who wants to stay close to the profession, give back, and bring wisdom and clarity to Ontario’s architectural community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support for Claims & Legal Defense
    • Collaborate with lawyers, claims specialists, and other architects to investigate, analyze, and develop strategies in response to professional liability claims.
    • Support insured architects during the claims process, helping contextualize practice decisions and defend their professional judgment.
  • Risk Management & Advisory Services
    • Provide practical advice to architectural practices on how to manage both insured and uninsured risks.
    • Offer contract and documentation guidance to firms seeking risk-reduction strategies in day-to-day operations.
    • Contribute to internal claims reviews, risk bulletins, and special initiatives.
  • Client Engagement & Relationship Building
    • Build meaningful relationships with architects across Ontario through advisory calls, education sessions, and direct support during challenging practice issues.
    • Participate in outreach efforts to elevate the profession’s understanding of risk and liability.
  • Thought Leadership & Content Development
    • Act as a subject matter expert and contribute to content for Pro-Demnity’s communications (podcast, blog, website) and educational activities and events. Help shape relevant and accessible materials on professional liability, emerging practice trends, and lessons learned from claims.
    • Work with cross-functional teams to continuously improve the value of our products and services for Ontario architects.
    • Assist in identifying patterns and emerging risk trends that can inform future offerings or educational tools.
  • You Will Regularly Interact With:
    • Fellow architects at Pro-Demnity
    • Claims professionals and legal counsel (internal and external)
    • Ontario-based architectural firms
    • Risk educators and communications professionals
    • External experts and consultants
About You

You’re an experienced and empathetic architectural professional who wants to use your career insights to uplift the next generation, reduce risk for your peers, and champion the profession.

Required Qualifications

  • Deep knowledge of project delivery, contract administration, and practice management
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills (bonus if you’ve written or spoken publicly before)
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities
  • Organized, reliable, and comfortable working independently or as part of a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 or similar tools
Nice to Have
  • Familiarity with construction law or professional liability insurance
  • Previous involvement in education, mentorship, or public speaking
  • Experience writing articles, creating content, or presenting at conferences or webinars
