The Organization
Headquartered in Toronto, the Building Ontario Fund (BOF) is a new independent, board-governed agency that will facilitate investment by trusted institutional investors in critically needed large-scale infrastructure projects within the province.
The agency’s mandate is to invest in, and seek to attract investment from, qualified institutional investors, public sector entities, governments, and Indigenous communities in Ontario infrastructure projects that will generate revenue and are in the public’s interest. BOF will do this by:
- Investing in infrastructure and appropriately allocating risks amongst the Corporation and other investors
- Structuring proposals and negotiating agreements with investors in infrastructure projects
- Receiving and assessing unsolicited ideas and proposals for infrastructure
- Providing advisory services with respect to financing infrastructure projects
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager – Loan Administration & Compliance, BOF is seeking a permanent full-time Senior Analyst – Loan Administration to fill an existing vacancy and take on the following responsibilities:
Ongoing Compliance
- Oversee the day-to-day operational management of loans post-close, including monitoring borrower/investee compliance with financing agreements, covenants, and reporting obligations.
- Maintain accurate investment records and ensure timely, accurate reporting to senior management, Board Committees, government departments, auditors, and other stakeholders.
- Onboard new investments as assigned and address issues and implement process changes as required.
Funding and Repayments
- Ensure timely disbursement of funds and receipt of principal and interest payments in line with agreed schedules.
- Manage funding, debt service, and repayment processes in coordination with borrowers, loan administrators, and other transaction parties.
- Maintain accurate records of interest and repayment calculations and prepare cash flow forecasts.
- Coordinate with Finance on wire transfers and provide input on accounting matters related to funding and repayments.
Data Management, Systems and Processes
- Build and maintain tools to track project cash flows, forecasts, and KPIs.
- Support the implementation of loan administration and compliance tracking systems.
- Maintain the integrity of portfolio data and respond to information requests from internal and external stakeholders.
Investment Performance and Risk Exposure
- Monitor financial and operational performance indicators to assess investment health and evolving risk profiles.
- Identify risk triggers (e.g., payment delays) and contribute to credit rating updates and early intervention strategies.
- Support the Manager, Loan Administration & Compliance to assess risks, develop mitigation strategies, and support impairment provisioning as needed.
Other Responsibilities
- Maintain ongoing relationships with borrowers, advisors, and other transaction counterpar ties.
- Other ad hoc projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ relevant experience in loan administration and compliance.
- Experience with project financing, particularly during the construction phase, preferred but not required.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong knowledge of loan documentation, covenant compliance, repayment structures, and portfolio monitoring throughout the life of a loan.
- Solid understanding of legal and accounting principles, financial analysis, and credit risk monitoring.
- Strong understanding of both commercial investment practices and public sector responsibilities, with a focus on project financing and private market investments.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on identifying operational efficiencies and process improvements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to take initiative, manage multiple priorities, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
