About The Role

As the Senior Accountant, you’ll be responsible for the preparation, analysis, and reconciliation of financial data to ensure compliance with accounting standards and organizational policies. You will support financial planning, audits, and budgeting, while working alongside leaders to maintain a strong system of internal controls. With a focus on collaboration and continuous improvement, your role supports Baptist Housing’s mission to help seniors experience life well in supportive communities.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and working papers
  • Maintain general ledger using fund accounting principles and accounting standards covered under ASNPO
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial audits
  • Assistsin completion of quarterly, semi-annual andad hocreporting required by funding partners
  • Ensure compliance with special funding programs
  • Ensure accurate coding and account classifications
Internal Controls & Compliance
  • Establish and maintain internal control procedures
  • Support the preparation of year-end audit files and charity returns
  • Ensure compliance with contract terms and funding requirements
  • Approve invoices, EFTs, cheques, and VISA payments within established limits
Team Collaboration & Support
  • Support team members and respond to financial inquiries
  • Collaborate with Controllers, finance leadership team, and external partners
  • Participate in financial process improvements and documentation of procedures
Leadership & Innovation
  • Model servant leadership and Baptist Housing’s values in all interactions
  • Provide guidance to team members and help foster a fun, engaging work environment
  • Promote safe working practices and support a culture of continuous learning
Requirements
Education
  • CPA designation or active enrollment in the CPA Professional EducationProgram
Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience required
  • Non-profit and fund accounting experience is preferred and considered an asset
  • Familiarity with Business Central or BizView is an asset

Compensation & Benefits

We offer a competitive compensation package, featuring an annual salary range between $75,000 and $85,000.
