Your role
  • Preparing an array of accounting/tax engagements such as personal tax returns, corporate tax returns, compilation, review and audit engagements including detailed client financial statement disclosures.
  • Sitting in on client meetings, communicating regularly with clients to learn their business needs and building those strong client relationships
  • Assisting with training for new students
  • Managing various deadlines throughout the year
  • Provide support, coaching and development of mentees.
  • Preparation and presentation of technical sessions to firm staff
  • Understanding the impact of engagement financials including time budgets, work in process variances and billings
  • Staying up to date on relevant accounting standards and changing tax laws
  • Completing various CRA filings for clients as needed including HST and responding to CRA calls.
What you bring to the table
  • Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) Designation, is a student in the CPA program or has relevant work experience in a firm environment
  • 2-5 years of experience in the accounting field (experience with review and audit engagements would be considered an asset)
  • High proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
  • Experience with Caseware and TaxPrep softwares considered an asset
  • Excellent attention to detail and project management skills
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work both independently and demonstrated ability to work with other’s effectively as part of a team
  • Understanding of a client-focused fast paced work environment and the ability to effectively pivot between tasks, prioritize and manage deliverables to meet conflicting deadlines
