Job description

Position Summary: Reporting to the Project Manager, you will have the opportunity to execute and lead various security system projects. Your role will encompass estimation, engineering design, programming, commissioning, and client training. Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the Project Manager and sales team during project turnover meetings to ensure a seamless transition and gather all necessary information for engineering.
  • Utilize engineering tools such as AutoCAD and Microsoft Visio for designing panel layouts, network layouts, and wiring diagrams that meet customer and company standards.
  • Assist in selecting materials, including access control modules and peripheral devices, to meet project requirements, specifications, codes, and standards.
  • Develop commissioning checklists for project startup, checkout, and commissioning to ensure smooth implementation.
  • Achieve high customer satisfaction, meet scope and specification compliance, and adhere to budgetary guidelines as success metrics.
  • Lead programming and functional testing of security system components, including Card Access Control, CCTV, Real-Time Locating System, and Intrusion Detection.
  • Ensure programming aligns with specified sequences of operation and meets industry standards and project specifications.
  • Maintain communication with field technicians, sales, clients, and vendors to promote collaboration.
  • Work with the Project Manager to ensure timely issuance of as-built and close-out documents.
  • Stay informed about security solutions, hardware, software, tools, and applications.
  • Provide analysis and advice to owners and contractors on security application strategies and options.
  • Leverage resources to resolve technical issues beyond personal expertise.
  • Contribute to team and engineering meetings, fostering idea exchange and constructive feedback.
  • Participate in process improvements and build positive relationships with colleagues.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or relevant diploma with experience considered.
  • Minimum 5 years in Security System Installation, Design, and Commissioning.
  • Experience in the security or low voltage industry.
  • Strong understanding of Security System Solutions and ability to evaluate systems and site conditions.
  • Experience coordinating with consultants and contractors on integrated projects.
  • Knowledge of building, electrical, mechanical codes, ASHRAE, and NFPA standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, technical, and financial skills.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and energy tools.
  • Leadership qualities, ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluent in English; French skills are an asset.
  • Vendor certification in low voltage systems preferred.
  • Experience leading site installations and design preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and background/security clearance required.
