Job summary

A regional school district is recruiting a Relief Education Assistant to assist individual students and small groups in academic and behavioral areas. This role involves monitoring students during various times and performing health and educational procedures. Candidates should have a Grade twelve education and relevant college courses related to learning and behavioral issues along with one year of experience with exceptional needs youth. A valid British Columbia driver's license may be required, along with skills in communication and behavior management.

Qualifications

  • Grade twelve education required.
  • Six college/university level courses related to learning/behavioral issues.
  • One year of related experience with children or youth with exceptional needs.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in the language of instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with specific drill and practice activities.
  • Monitors and assists students during unstructured time.
  • Prepares instructional materials and conducts school activities.
  • Administers medication under guidance.
