Job summary

Qualifications

Overview

Position: Registered Practical Nurse

Company and location: Auxilium Health, Head office Durham Region (Whitby / Oshawa)

Employment type: Casual to Part-Time (opportunity to grow to Full-Time)

Hours worked: 37.5 hours / week, Virtual & On-site

Key Responsibilities
  • Take medical history and patient assessment for in-clinic patients
  • Assist Dermatologist with biopsies and procedures as directed by the physician (e.g., preparing patients for treatment, preparing biopsy trays, injecting local anesthetic, photo taking, etc.)
  • Educate patients on post-procedure care as necessary
  • Monitor and facilitate the flow of patients through the clinic
  • Documentation using our EMR
  • Contact patients with their lab results
  • Assist with referrals to other healthcare providers
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • 2-3 years of experience as a RN
  • Current CPR / BCLS certification
  • Nursing experience in a dermatology office environment is an asset, but not needed (training will be provided)
  • Perform procedures such as cryotherapy, skin biopsies, skin tag / lesion removal, electrocautery and specimen collection (training will be provided)
  • Manage wound care and provide patient follow-up instructions
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and as part of a collaborative team
  • Attention to detail
Additional Considerations

In addition to the above, we would be interested in someone who would be excited about doing some in-office medication titrations for an important medication used in Parkinson’s disorder. This would involve working with patients in various neurologist offices around the GTA to get them to the optimal dosing for them. This would be done in close collaboration with the neurologist and this candidate will receive ample training and support from the pharma company.
