In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, the Registered Nurse practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice and the code of ethics as outlined by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) within a patient‑ and family‑centered care model.
The Registered Nurse – Perinatal works collaboratively with the inter‑professional team, plans and provides direct patient care to obstetrical patients during the intra‑partum, postpartum and high‑risk ante‑partum periods and other assigned patients by assessing, planning, providing and evaluating nursing care.
The Registered Nurse demonstrates a specialized body of knowledge and bases practice on nursing science and related content from other sciences and humanities.
Fort St. John Hospital and Health Centre has 44 Acute Care beds and 124 residential beds and is equipped to handle 22,000 ER visits per year.
Fort St. John is known as “The Energetic City,” reflecting its rich resource base of oil, natural gas, forestry, and agriculture. Overlooking the Peace River, the town serves as the capital of the Peace River district, has a population of over 21,400 and serves an area of approximately 70,000. The community is a hub of the Northeast, featuring a cultural centre, library, theatre, and art space. It is home to seven elementary schools, two middle schools, one secondary school, and a Northern Lights College campus.
